Walt Disney’s original name for the park was an acronym E.P.C.O.T. Center standing for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, to reflect Walt’s original concept for the park conceptual Utopian city of the future. Walt wanted to create a model community, home to twenty thousand residents, which would be a test bed for city planning and organization. However, due to government permission Walt’s vision would not be foreseen.

However, Disney imaginers would build from Walt’s vision and create a Theme Park that created attractions that were futuristic in technology and design, but building on a World Community, designing the Epcot guests see today. Epcot is divided in two sections. First, Future World will take guests on technological advancements and innovation both on Earth and beyond. Future World attractions focus on energy, communication, the land and our environment, the ocean, imagination, transportation and space exploration. In Future World, ideas become reality! Second, World Showcase, invites guests on a global adventure across a collection of international pavilions around the World Showcase Lagoon. Here, world wonders blend with Disney imagination and innovation to create a melting pot of magical encounters.

Covering over 300 acres Epcot will encourage guests to use creativity, imagination, and celebrate countries uniting. Be amazed, inspired, enlightened and entertained!
